Free AgencyIn this episode of the “Red Light Sports Ramble”; presented by the Red Light Sports Network, Evan and Troy talk about Day 1 of NFL Free Agency and discuss the lack of moves on the Green Bay Packers part.  As an NFL fan I saw a lot happened in Free Agency; and as always the Green Bay Packers fans sit patiently and wait to see if Ted Thompson will make any moves.  The question debated on day 1 is “Did you really expect the Green Bay Packers to make a move?”.  The simple answer is no.  Ian Rapoport reported earlier this off-season that Ted Thompson was going to be more aggressive in Free Agency.  Well, that didn’t mean that he was going to jump up and down on day 1 and break the bank.  However, I do expect some signings to happen throughout Free Agency.

At the time of this show, Free Agency was about 2 hours old.  Therefore, some of the day 1 happenings were not talked about on air.  During the show, it was mentioned that Jairus Byrd was on his way to visit the New Orleans Saints.  This was a surprise during the show and today Byrd has a $54 million contract with $28 million guaranteed.

The Cleveland Browns and the Atlanta Falcons made a splash on the first day of Free Agency.  The Browns signed two big name players in linebacker Karlos Dansby and safety Donte Whitner.  The Atlanta Falcons inked Tyson Jackson and Paul Solial to shore up their defensive line.  They also added guard Jon Asamoah.

The San Francisco 49ers pulled off two trades yesterday, acquiring Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert for a 6th round pick and Jonathan Martin from the Miami Dolphins for a conditional draft pick.  With the quarterbacks in Free Agency, the Jaguars are not going to find their franchise quarterback.  There are two legitimate starters looking for teams; Josh McCown and Michael Vick.  The Jaguars may be crossing their fingers that they will have better luck picking a quarterback in this years draft.  The past has not been kind to the Jaguars when selecting quarterbacks.

In the middle of all the excitement, the boys took a live call.  This caller known as “Raidernation677” decided that it would be funny to use a few unsuitable words and was quickly dismissed from the show.  Other than the rude caller; it was a jam-packed episode with much news about Free Agency on day 1.

Listen to the whole episode of the “Red Light Sports Ramble”.
