Like any avid sports fan, I have watched the Olympics for most of my life and cheered for the USA.

My memories of the Olympics run deep: from as far back as 1968, to the most recent London 2012 games, and the ones in Vancouver in 2010 before that.

One theme is constant through every Olympics Games: the true spirit of sportsmanship and fair play.

In my time,I have seen the likes of Olga Korbut in 1972,after her Nadia Comaneci in 1976,who electrified the crowds with PERFECT TENS. Long gone are those rule. The scoring system has changed with technology, but that is in keeping with the Fairness of the Olympics.

In recent Olympics were Nastia Liukin, Courtney Kupets, who set the pace for the future Olympians in the sport of Gymnastics from Athens to the present.

But what of the coming Olympics in Sochi 2014?

It will be the first time since the Summer Games in Moscow 1980 that Russia has hosted the Olympics. Will heroes be made, will records be set? Will there be new role models for the youth of the world? Naturally the answer to those questions is a resounding YES!!

I still recall the moment in 1980 when USA Men’s Hockey was playing the then USSR, in the final moments the announcer said those immortal words,”5 seconds to the gold medal,4  seconds to the gold medal, three, two, one!! DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES? YES!”.

Since then, many a team be it Men’s USA Olympic Hockey,or even now the current Women’s USA Hockey Team has tried and done well to re-capture the magic of that moment of the Winter Olympic Games! Will the Men or Women rise to the occasion and win the gold again? Only time will tell.

There has been a greater showing in the past two Olympics of women athletes than at any other time in Olympic history.

True Olympic enthusiasts from around the globe are looking forward to the 2014 Winter Olympics come February 2014! And after that, the Summer Olympics 2016,for the first time ever in South America: Rio de Janiero, Brazil!! They too will await the outcome of the 2014 Olympics and how well they did,in anticipation of their time to shine, in the Moment of Olympic Glory in 2016.
