Rob ReischalIn this episode of the Red Light Sports Ramble, Evan and Troy welcome Rob Reischel to recap the Green Bay Packers 2013 season.  Rob is the author of 6 books, including his newest book; co-authored by former Packer Leroy Butler “Packers Pride”.  He also writes for a publication called “Packers Plus”.  Rob takes us through some of the things that went well this year, and where the Green Bay Packers need to improve for 2014.

Before Rob joined the show, Evan and Troy recapped the days highlights in NFL football and College football.  The Washington Redskins named Jay Gruden Head Coach, and the boys were surprised with the choice.  Also, news out of Detroit is that they flew to San Diego to interview Ken Whisenhunt.  Finally Bobby Petrino has gone back to Louisville to be the Head Coach. When Rob joined the show he talked about McCarthy thinking that he had one of his best offensive units established when the season began, until Aaron Rodgers went down with a shoulder injury.  The Green Bay Packers were ranked near the bottom of the league in Red Zone efficiency and that is where they sorely missed Jermichael Finley.  Evan asked if Andrew Quarless was the answer at tight end, listen to hear what Rob’s reaction was in in this episode.

Flipping the ball to the defensive side, Rob clearly stated that he was a fan of Dom Capers.  He had a chance to talk with Capers when he was first hired to coach the defensive and asked him what he needed in players to be successful.  Listen to what Dom Capers told Rob Resischel about winning on defense.  There are many holes to fill and it will be an interesting off-season to see what free agents are re-signed and which ones will be wearing the Green and Gold next season.
