By now you should be aware of all the negatives entering the Cowboys 2016 NFL season. I’m here to tell you that despite all the suspensions and bad news there is something to be very excited about: let us begin.
He’s back!! After a tough 2015 season Tony Romo has had a successful surgery on his collarbone and a full off-season to heal and rest up. Other than last season, Cowboys franchise quarterback, Tony Romo, has had a QB rating of 90+ and has been aging like fine wine: getting better each year. People will argue, but Romo IS an elite quarterback and has the numbers to prove it. As long as Tony stays healthy, this elite offensive line and a potent RB Corp is a great combination for success!
The Cowboys have made it a priority the last couple of years to get back to having a dominant run game and this year isn’t any different. This organization has been taking risks as of late and the decision to sign RB Darren McFadden last season wasn’t any different. The departure of the record breaking RB DeMarco Murray was a huge hole to fill, but McFadden’s recruitment was a low risk (2 year, $3Mil contract) high reward signing that paid off as he was a top ten rusher for the Cowboys that stayed relatively healthy most of the season.
This year the Cowboys used their number one pick on star running back Ezekiel Elliott. Elliott is participating in this year’s training camp and reports say he’s looking great! This running back Corp consists of Ezekiel Elliott, Darren McFadden, and newly signed free agent, Alfred Morris. Doesn’t this group sound like something out of a superhero movie?! All studs: with Elliott the most likely to start and be provided with the most touches. Legal issues may be looming over Elliott at the moment, and if a suspension or any kind of removal from the game occurs, Morris and McFadden shouldn’t have a problem pounding the ball.
By now everyone should know that the Cowboys have an elite top 5 O-line. The Cowboys took their time in rebuilding that front line in order to replicate a line like that of the 90’s that made the legendary Emmitt Smith so successful. DeMarco Murray had the privilege of having these boys in front of him and had an incredible season two years ago. Darren McFadden prospered last year.
Travis Frederick, Zack Martin, and Tyron Smith. It started with these three studs being the Cowboys number one picks and it worked perfectly! Now with plugging in La’el Collins, this should continue to be one of the best O-Lines in the NFL this season.
Dez Bryant and Company
Dez Bryant hit a couple of speed bumps last season with a broken foot that ended up with a screw in it via surgery, time off, then an ankle injury that had him finishing the season on the injured reserve list and out for the rest of the season. With a full off season to heal up, Dez Bryant should be back with a vengeance. Especially with Tony Romo throwing to him. Pictures making their rounds on the internet deem Bryant being in the best shape of his life. He is a full participant in training camp. Terrence Williams and Cole Beasley showed some flashes of greatness last season, but had a better season the year before. I predict Bryce Butler and Lucky Whitehead will have a great year, as well as Beasley and Williams. Lots of weapons to throw to.

The Cowboys have the 27th ranked schedule in terms of difficulty. The league ranks schedules based off the season before and where teams ended up in win/loss record. Excited to see that Green Bay is on there again! This time the Boys have to go in there and claim the W that was rightfully theirs.
Well there you have it. Take all of this information and embrace it. This should give you some optimism going into the season. Yeah, there might be some injuries in training camp, and they’re somewhat scrambling to find another back up quarterback, but they’ll be fine. Regular season, start already!
